Aunt Vadge: bleeding, but no pain, after fingering

Hi Aunt Vadge,

What does it indicate when there no pain or discomfort, but only bleeding after fingering? When does this bleeding stop? Is it harmful? Are there chances of pregnancy? What precaution is to be taken?

Sincerely,
Confused

Dear Confused,

No pain or discomfort after fingering, but bleeding, may indicate that there is a structure inside the vagina that is being disturbed – but has no nerve endings – during fingering, which should be looked into by a doctor. It could also indicate the menstrual period is arriving! In that case, no cause for concern.

It is abnormal for there to be bleeding after fingering without pain or any visible sign of damage or feeling of damage. It is probably not harmful, there are no chances of pregnancy from fingering (as long as there isn’t semen or pre-cum on the finger, so no penis-hand touching the vagina – wipe it first), and therefore you don’t need to take any special precautions.

Read Fingering Basics to get a better idea of fingering, and if the bleeding happens again or doesn’t stop (and is not your period), please see a doctor or sexual health clinic to be examined. You may have something more serious going on, but you should know!

Warmest regards,
Aunt Vadge
