Aunt Vadge: rough fingering left me weeping

Dear Aunt Vadge,

I was recently fingered…very roughly. A day after, the vulva on my left side began to swell and itch a little. The day after that I spent about seven hours outside in the rain where of course I was in a soaked pair of shorts the whole day.

That night the area on my vulva was much worse. It was swollen and red and tender to the touch. It burned so badly when I urinated. The next morning it wasn’t any better so I went to the ER where they diagnosed me with a yeast infection. They gave me Diflucan and sent me on my way.

Here I am over a day later and I’m still no better. After getting a closer look I could see that it was very raw and almost looked as if there was a bit of skin scraped off. It’s been oozing a little bit of yellow liquid, too. I’m thinking I don’t have a yeast infection at all, but instead I got a blister or cut from those rough fingers! I’m just worried about the healing process and if the yellow liquid coming from the raw area is a normal part of healing… or if I should go see another doctor?

Thanks so much!

Oozing
_____

Hi Oozing,
Anything yellow and oozing needs medical attention, as it usually signifies an infection. Pus is our body’s way of clearing out infection, but it can be slow and some antibacterial cream or antibiotic cream may help to clear it up quickly as prescribed by your doctor – or alternatively it may clear up by itself and just need to be kept clean. A quick visit to your doctor is a good idea, so they can see what’s going on and advise you accordingly.

You may have already had a yeast infection, but also the fingering may have damaged you. It can be both, and no matter what, will take some days to heal up.

Please get your lover to read fingering basics, as rough fingering feels bad and causes damage, and therefore is kind of pointless. There are better ways to pleasure each other, which you need to work on – no more damage! Sex (and everything that comes with it) is supposed to feel good, not cause pain and damage.

Your vagina and vulva will be fine – nothing is serious, but it does need attention in both the infection and fingering departments.

Warmest regards,
Aunt Vadge
